Yes, you can take any UF EDGE online course as an individual class without being part of a degree or certificate program. This can be done as a non-degree seeking student.

Can I transfer courses I completed through UF EDGE certificate program toward master’s degree program?

Yes, if you decide later to pursue an online graduate degree through UF EDGE, the courses you completed can be transferred (pending departmental approval) to count toward your 10-course online master’s degree if you make the appropriate grades (also depends on chosen master’s degree program).

Who should consider enrolling in UF EDGE certificate program?

Certificate programs are an excellent way to expand or refresh some of your engineering skills in a given area if you do not desire a full graduate degree. They are shorter programs consisting of three to five courses.

Can I transfer courses I took as a non-degree seeking student toward master’s degree program?

Yes, pending departmental approval and as long as you receive the appropriate grades. You should also check with your department to see what their policy is on transfer of credits from this status. It is your responsibility to make sure that your courses will transfer.

I got admission as a non-degree seeking student, do I need to re-apply for next semester?

The non-degree seeking status is only approved for one semester; therefore, students who wish to continue taking courses as non-degree seeking must apply each semester.

How many courses can I take as a non-degree student before transferring to master’s degree program?

You can complete up to three qualifying courses as a non-degree seeking student and have them later transferred (pending departmental approval) to count towards your 10-course online master’s degree if you choose to pursue the degree option.

The degree admission date has passed for next semester, what are my options?

You can still begin taking classes by registering as a ‘non-degree seeking’ student for your first semester. How fast can I finish my master’s degree?

Master’s degrees can be completed in as little as 24 months. You are free to take as many or as few courses as your schedule permits each semester.
